We know that Polyurethane is  more fracture resistant, more stable,compresses better than rubber but flexes less compared Rubber, but what’s the differenct for TPU Polyurethane and CPU polyurethane?

CPU(Pouring polyurethane is thermosetting molding), the performance is better than the same type of TPU, but the molding method is relatively complex, the output is not high, high labor costs.The CPU is a cast polyurethane elastomer that is prepared by reacting oligomeric polyols, polyisocyanates and chain extenders. As the name suggests, “pouring” refers to the product before the molding material system for the liquid, pouring, reaction curing a direct molding of a chemical processing methods, and the material system in principle, does not contain volatile liquid.

TPU (name for the thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, is a class of heating can be plasticized, the solvent can dissolve the polyurethane), It can be molded, extruded, blow molding and other methods of molding, with the advantages of simple production, fast, recyclable waste.TPU  is a kind of heating can be plasticized, the solvent can dissolve the polyurethane.

the chemical structure is not or little chemical cross-linking, the molecules are basically linear, but there is a certain amount of physical cross-linking! A class of polymer materials between rubber and plastic. with high modulus, high strength, high elongation and high elasticity, excellent wear resistance, oil resistance, low temperature resistance, aging resistance.

From the process, the pouring type is thermo-solid type, the injection type is thermoplastic type, the molecular structure, the former is the network type molecular structure, the latter is the linear molecular structure, the physical performance part also has the big gap, the use scope is different.

CPU raw material selection range is larger, the product hardness range is wider, especially suitable for large and medium-sized products production! Because the CPU before the molding is liquid, TPU is solid before molding.The advantage is good temperature resistance, high strength. Wide range of hardness, can be very soft and extremely hard
Disadvantages are not recyclable.

TPU – Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer accounts for about 25% of the total amount of polyurethane elastomers;
Advantages can be thermoplastic molding, edge material can be recycled;
The disadvantage is worse than the CPU strength, the hardness range is narrow, can not produce low hardness products.

We choose CPU Bumper Plate due to Good temperature resistance,Strong Wear, high strength,More fracture resistant so you won’t get cracks forming as soon as on other rubber plates.  CPU has excellent wear resistance (the best in the elastomer), pouring polyurethane elastomer (referred to as CPU) is also called thermosetting elastomer, at room temperature into a liquid, processed into solid-state characteristics, CPU is often used Pouring processing, and its finished products in the strong wear resistance

CPU Urethane compresses better  but flexes less, so especially for thinner bumpers, they have the resilience of a bumper but don’t wobble or flex as much when dropped. This means they can be molded around smaller cores and don’t need the big center bushings that rubber bumpers require.

CPU Urethane is very stable and easy to mold. And even in low grades it’s relatively clear, so it’s easy to do different colors (and textures) get better effects with those colors.

There are other characteristics of CPU urethane as well, but it basically is a first generation of a new trend in materials for bumpers. We’ll see big improvements in the material in the next couple years,  it starts as a better material for a product like a bumper. Rubber hasn’t been used for suspension bushings for many years, while CPU urethane is one of the best materials used today.
